Lancaster Pool Announcement

Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic the HOA Board discussed the options and requirements concerning opening the pool this year.  Ultimately the Board will follow the advice and requirements of the Health Department and at this point cannot guarantee the pool will open on time or later.  Nevertheless, maintenance and required treatments of the water will be necessary.  So, you may see the pool tarp removed and chemicals being added to the water to prevent a mosquito outbreak, but that will not be a sign that the pool will be open and operational this year.
 
We all certainly hope that we can all enjoy the pool this year, but please understand if it cannot be opened at all or opened later than usual.
Lancaster Yard Waste Pickup

Yard waste is collected from April 1 through December 31 on Wednesday.  Due to the current Coronavirus Pandemic trash haulers have been given the option to not pick up yard waste or anything outside of our normal trash and recycling bins.  At this time our trash hauler, WCA, is currently picking up yard waste.  If the HOA Board hears otherwise it will be posted here.
 
Please only put your yard waste out for the normal collection day.  WCA has been pretty consistent over the last year in picking up yard waste on the scheduled day or the day after if there is a back log or equipment problems.  We all remember several years ago when the pickup was hit or miss.  That issue appears to have been mostly resolved.
 
Additionally, please remember to be a good neighbor and remove piles of brush from your yard (front and back).  Not only does this beautify our neighborhood but also discourages varmints from moving onto your property.
2020 Garage Sale Dates

The Neighborhood of Lancaster will have a neighborhood garage sale on the 3rd weekend of April and September.  The sale runs from Thursday through Saturday.  Each individual home owner is responsible for the set-up and sale of their personal items. This year's dates are:
 
Spring sales:  April 16-18  Cancelled Due to Covid-19

Fall sales:  Sept. 17-19

2nd Annual Holiday Lighting Contest in Lancaster

Last year's Holiday Lighting Contest was a big success so why not try to outdo ourselves this year! 
 
The top three residences that decorate their homes and property for the holiday season will be eligible to receive prizes of:
 
$75 for first place
$50 for second place
$25 for third place.
 
The Board of Directors will be selecting winners on December 15th.  Good luck!!
Homeowner Tree Information

As you walk down our sidewalks there are trees with low hanging branches. Please be courteous to neighbors and keep trees trimmed to an appropriate height. The City of Overland Park requirements are 8 feet over the sidewalk and 12.6 feet over the street.  Click here for more information.
 
If you are elderly or disabled and need assistance in trimming your trees please contact Lancaster resident Jonathan Van Haste at (913)-244-7592.  We will make this into a fun Cub Scout project!  
 
Please note that our contracted trash & recycling company WCA does NOT pick up yard waste in January - March.
 
Please be aware that Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been identified in the Johnson County, KS area this year. If you have Ash Trees you may want to contact an Arborist to see if preventative measures or treatment is needed.

Yard Waste Pickup

Town and Country (Now WCA) has informed the association that yard waste pickup will not begin until April 1st and will continue through October 31st.  Yard waste will be picked up starting April 1st on your regular scheduled trash days.
 
You may place up to 6 bags with your trash and recycling for pickup.  During fall there will be not be a limit on the number of yard waste bags you can have picked up.

A Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 7 PM.  This will take place at the Argentine Federal Savings Bank (12501 Antioch) unless the conference room is unavailable.  The meeting will be held online via Zoom if we are unable to meet in person.  Please email Nick Paschal (npaschal@hasolutions.net) for the meeting link if you'd like to attend.
